#700 Medical Billing and Coding
(No Golden Age Waiver)
An online course was developed to prepare students to become a part of the Allied Healthcare Industry as Medical Billers and Coders. This course is designed to prepare students for becoming Medical Reimbursement and Coding professionals, by providing a comprehensive course of study which includes:
• Understanding the medical billing process, insurance, and reimbursement
• Coding from physician documentation
• Use of guidelines and HIPAA compliances
• Hands-on, real-world practical strategies
• Students will be able to use this course as the foundation of Healthcare Administration, applying the concepts learned to any medical billing or coding exam offered by credentialing associations (i.e., AAPC, AHIMA, NHA, AMBA, MAB, CMAA etc.)
• Students will connect each week via video conferencing sessions, with a live Instructor to guide you throughout the course. Students will utilize an online portal for eBook, materials, and other resources. Each student that successfully completes the course, will receive a “Certificate of Completion” and will be prepped to enter the world of healthcare in addition to becoming Certified in this thriving industry. Successful completion of the course requires 85% class attendance rate and completing assignments to the satisfaction of the instructor.
Prerequisites:
• High school diploma or GED® is required at the time of registration.
• Applicants must provide a copy of diploma, GED® certificate or transcript.
• Completion of basic medical terminology course and/or knowledge of basic medical terminology is recommended but not necessary.
