LKES Open House- We hope to see everyone at our Open House on Thursday, August 15. Families will have the  opportunity to tour the building, meet teachers and staff, and learn more about the upcoming school year.

Safety- Lakeside prides itself on earning an “exceeds expectation” on our HCPS Safety Audit. In addition to the many protocols we have put in place over the years, our weapons scanners will be in full implementation this year. We have also installed updated security cameras throughout our school campus. Safety will continue to be our top priority.

Schedule- Punctuality and attendance are extremely important to your child’s success. Please plan to have your child  here and on time every day. Lakeside’s doors open at 7:50. Our tardy bell rings at 8:10. Dismissal begins at 2:35 and  all students must be picked up by 3:00. Each grade level will have their own schedule with times for core subjects, lunch, LAMPS (library, art, music, PE, school counseling), and recess.

School Nutrition- We are happy to share that Lakeside has qualified for the Community Eligibility Provision again this  year. All students will receive free breakfast and lunch. Students will still need to enter their lunch number when they  go through the line.

School Culture- Lakeside is a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) school. We have common  expectations throughout our school and recognize students for following them. Students can earn House Bucks they  can use at our ROAR store. In addition, Lakeside has implemented the House System to add to our positive climate  and culture. Students and staff are sorted into houses and have opportunities throughout the year to meet with  members of their house and compete for house points. Please review our expectations with your child. “At Lakeside,  we are respectful, we are responsible, we are ready, we are safe. We are four houses. We are one family. We are  Lakeside strong!”

Communication- Our Lakeside Team strives to maintain frequent communication with our families. In addition to  messages from your classroom teacher, you will receive weekly updates from Mrs. Drake via ParentSquare. We also  encourage you to join our Facebook page and visit our website for information throughout the year. Grades, report  cards, bus assignments, and other important information can be found on the Parent Portal. Instructions on accessing  Parent Portal can be found here: https://henricoschools.us/online-services/.

Thank you for your continued collaboration and support. We look forward to another amazing year at Lakeside  Elementary!

In Partnership,
